Love Your Park Week
Want to feel appreciative of the many beautiful parks in Philadelphia? Then check out Love Your Park week! Love Your Park week is an ongoing citywide celebration that is happening right now till May 19th. It celebrates all of Philadelphia’s different parks with included features such as educational programs, service projects, family events, tours, and so much more. This event was initiated by the Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Fairmount Park Conservancy, and the Philadelphia Horticultural Society. Austin carefully selects locally grown organic fruits and vegetables that meet her highest criteria. Beck the Loser
Beck has always been a little different. From his distinct voice and lyrics, diverse range of musical styles, and funky collaborations, there’s not many stranger in the business. He rarely tours and hasn’t come out with an album since 2008′s Modern Guilt. So it makes sense that he would only have two east coast shows scheduled for the summer. His strange persona has made him the indie icon he is today. And his stage presence isn’t any different. This is a live show you don’t want to miss this summer. Chris’ Jazz Cafe, a local jazz club, will feature a music ensemble called Conjunto Philadelphia this Friday night on May 11th. The music event will start at 8pm and end at 11:30pm. Conjunto Philadelphia is a Philadelphia based ensemble that performs music from the Pre-Revoluntionary Cuba period. Conjunto Philadelphia aims to keep the roots and traditions of Cuban music alive and offer listeners a chance to learn about the country’s musical history. 2012 Design Exhibition, If/Then, by UArts Graduating Students
Want to see some real creativity from art design students? University of the Arts, a higher education institution centered in the arts, will feature this year’s 2012 Design Exhibition on May 11th from 6pm-9pm, 17th from 4pm-7pm, and 18th from 12pm-5pm.
